East Cleveland Mayor Eric Brewer Loses Re-Election; Blames It On Cross-Dressing Photos

East Cleveland mayor Eric Brewer was caught in a cross-dressing scandal, which he alleged was spawned by his opponent in the mayoral race, Gary Norton; a scandal which he believes may have cost him the race. Photos that appear to be of Brewer dressed in women’s lingerie circulated the net and news programs nationwide just days prior to voters hitting the polls.

In a press conference held outside his office, Brewer stated, “While I am not and will not authenticate any of the pictures, since it appears as if they and the e-mails my opponent has caused to distributed are personal in nature, the fact is they are embarrassing to our city.”

Brewer further alleged the East Cleveland police were also involved in distributing the photos, citing the reason being revenge over Brewer’s request that the U.S. Justice Department investigate possible police corruption. The photos were supposedly taken from Brewer’s hard drive after he took his computer in for repair.

The election which was held yesterday (September 29), resulted in Brewer losing his seat to Norton. Brewer, who only received 36% of the votes, released the following statement to Fox 8 after his loss: “it’s kind of a bittersweet situation for me, we worked hard, not only over the last four years, but for this campaign, we’ve held 175 town hall meetings to the one meeting that my opponent held to share information with his residents, we brought open government back to East Cleveland, we got the water rates lowered, we reduced crime by 40 to 75 percent, we brought respect back to the city.”

While Brewer blames his loss on the release of the racy photos, a tally of absentee ballots sent in before the scandal shows Brewer was behind Norton in the votes by almost 2 to 1.

LOL @ the pic. Don't he look like somebodies bangy cunt auntie..lmao.. anyways check the video below...

Lloyd Puts Former Friend Ciara On Blast

R&B singer Lloyd recently did a interview with Hip Hop Weekly wherein he puts former friend Ciara on blast for letting the industry go to her head. Lloyd, who met Ciara back when they were both teenagers and newcomers to the music industry, had become good friends with the singer. She was even featured in his video “Hey Young Girl.” However, much has changed since then.

Lloyd told the magazine, “I don’t f**k with Hollywood b**ches and she’s like one of the chicks that’s just changed along the way with the fame and the money and all of that. I don’t really get down with her anymore on some real s**t. The truth hurts, but it will set you free. But I wish her all the best.”

Wow! Guess the rumors about Ciara being difficult to work with and throwing diva tantrums may have some merit to them.

Trailer Debut: Watch 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' NOW!

Ever since I heard that a remake of "Nitemare on Elm Street" I was like "Oh No!" I'm a HUGE fan of the original Elm Street movies. Nobody can play Freddy better then Robert Englund! However, in the spirit of all the other classics being remade ( i.e Halloween & Friday the 13th), which weren't that bad... well, Halloween 2 kinda sucked. I'll watch just to see for myself how it will turn out. The preview looks pretty good though.

The trailer teases recreations of classic scenes from Wes Craven's groundbreaking original film, along with your first full, clear look at Freddy Krueger. Chime in below, we all want to know what YOU guys think of the footage. Arriving in theaters April 30, the films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

Here's the preview...

Saggin Pants

Letter from a college student

The other day, a friend of mine visited me in the lobby of my dorm just
to chat while her laundry was drying. As we were chatting, two young
freshmen came by. One of the boys wanted to 'talk' to my friend (as in
date). She asked him how old they were, and both of the boys replied
18. My friend and I both laughed hysterically because we are both 22
years old. After my friend left, the young men were still hanging
around and one wanted to know how he could gain her interest.

The first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants! He asked
why, and then said he liked saggin' his pants. I told him to come over
to my computer and spell the word saggin'. Then I told him to write
the word saggin' backwards.

S-A-G-G-I-N = N-I-G-G-A-S

I told him the origin of that look was from centuries ago. It was the
intent of slave owners to demoralize the field workers by forbidding
them to wear a belt as they worked in the fields or at any other
rigorous job. In addition, men in prison wore their pants low when
they were 'spoken for'. The other reason their pants looked like that
was they were not allowed to have belts because prisoners were likely to
try to commit suicide. And, saggin' pants prevents you from running.

We as young Black people have to be the ones to effect change. We are
dying. The media has made a mockery of the Black American. Even our
brothers and sisters from Africa don't take us seriously. Something as
simple as pulling up your pants and standing with your head held high
could make the biggest difference in the world's perception of us. It
is time to do right by ourselves. We need to love and embrace each
other. No one is going to do that for us.

It all comes down to perception. What people perceive is what reality
to them is. We have to change not only the media's perception of us,
but we need to change our perception of ourselves.

Remember all eyes are on you Black Man. All eyes are on you Black
Woman. All eyes are on your Black Child. People point the finger at
us and expect us to engage in negative and illegal activities, to
manifest loud, boisterous behavior, to spend our hard earned money in
their stores, buying goods we don't need, or really want. We have
allowed not only the media, but the government and the world to portray
us as a 'sub-culture.' They have stripped our culture down to the
point where the image of Black people is perpetuated as rappers,
athletes, drug users, and consumers of junk food, expensive tennis
shoes, expensive cars, expensive TVs, cell phones and not investing in
homes for our families.

We are so much more!!!!!!!

To all our Black Men: It's time to stand up. There are billions of
Black Women who want to do nothing more than worship the ground that you
walk on. We are so in love with your potential. We want to have your
back, we want to love, support and cherish every ounce of your being.
But with that you have to show that you are willing to be the head of
our households. You have to prove yourselves worthy of our
submission. We need you to be hard working...Not a hustler. We need
you to seek higher education, to seek spirituality. We need you to
stand! And trust us; we will have your back. We know that it gets
hard. We know you get weary. Trust and believe that there is nothing
that a Black Man and a Black Woman can't handle with GOD on their side.

To all our Black Women: It is also time for you to stand up. It is
time for you to stop using our bodies as our primary form of
communication. It is time to be that virtuous woman that Proverbs
spoke of. You cannot sit by the wayside while our men are dying by the
masses. You are the epitome of Black Love and It starts within you.
You need to speak with conviction to let not only our Black Men know,
but the world, that you are the Mothers of this world. You are so
powerful. You are so beautiful. You need to love and embrace every
blessing God has given us physically, emotionally and spiritually.

For all our Black Children: We need to love them. We need to teach
them. We need to stand up for them. We need to protect them. We
need to show them that there are no 'get rich quick' schemes. We need
to tell them that they WILL die trying if they submit to a life of crime
and deceit. We need to teach our children that no one will love them
the way we can. And being a basketball player, a rapper, or a drug
dealer is not reality. It's not realistic and only a small percentage
of people ever make it as a rapper or professional athlete. We need to
teach our children that we can be more than rappers and athletes. We
can be the owners of these sports teams. We can be the CEO's of OUR
fortune 500 companies. We need to believe in literacy. I am almost
certain if we were to look back to the 1930's and 40's, the literacy
rates for Black American Children are probably still the same.
Please Keep This Going & Have a wonderful day

'This is the year of empowerment.' God will empower us to accomplish

things this year that will be mind blowing

"All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on."

Man Arrested for Transmiting HIV to Partner

News that for the first time an HIV vaccine has had some success in protecting people from the disease is severely tempered by news out of St. Louis County that a 40-year-old African American male is being held on $200,000 cash bond on six counts of recklessly risking infection of another with HIV. The news of the vaccine shows how far we've come in the battle against HIV, but the arrest of this St. Louis County man shows how much further we have to go in educating the public.

Prosecutors say that Orlando A. Hadley had numerous sexual encounters with a woman and did not reveal his HIV status to her. The woman later tested positive for HIV. Now, police are polling the public to see who else may have had sexual contact with Hadley.

Let's be clear, not being honest with your sexual partner about your HIV status is terrible. Individuals, though, must learn to take steps to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases, regardless of what our partner tells you. The advance in HIV/AIDS medications has turned the disease into more of a chronic condition for some, but just because living with HIV/AIDS is easier doesn't mean we should let down our guards.

"Quite frankly, this kind of prosecution misses the boat and does harm. Outside of rape, it takes two people to transmit the disease," Phill Wilson, president and CEO of the Black AIDS Institute in Los Angeles, told Black Voices in an interview. "This says to folks, 'I don't have to protect myself.' What would be healthier is to change the conversation to address how it is each of our responsibilities to protect ourselves."

It's a conversation that needs to happen now because HIV and AIDS is ravaging the African American community. According to the Centers for Disease Control, African Americans account for 51 percent of new HIV/AIDS diagnoses. African Americans also account for 48 percent of people living with HIV/AIDS. At the end of 2007, 40 percent of the people with AIDS who died were African American.

These horrible statistics point to the fact that we are not doing enough to protect ourselves. Reducing the number of partners we have and always using condoms are good places to start. We need to address the terrible problem of intravenous drug use in our communities and also the stigma against homosexuality and HIV/AIDS. According to the CDC, in a recent study of men who have sex with men in five cities, 46 percent were HIV positive and 67 percent were unaware of their infection.

Because of the way people with this disease are treated, some may choose not to know their status despite the consequences.

"There are people that are HIV positive and don't want to believe it and ignore it. There are people that know or suspect their partner is involved in high-risk behavior and don't protect themselves," Wilson said.

This is more of a moral issue than a legal issue, except in rare cases when an individual seems to be repeatedly and purposely infecting others. Putting this one man behind bars will not go as far as continued and strengthened outreach to those who are most at risk.

Lisa Raye And Al Sharpton The New It Couple?

They have been spotted out together at several events - the NAACP Awards, Michael Jackson’s funeral and now Congressional Black Caucus weekend - on each other’s arm.

According to YBF, Lisa Raye and Al Sharpton have been “getting it in for the last few months.”
Here’s what we know: A few weeks ago our source (a MAJOR publicist in the industry who shall remain nameless) told us that Al and LisaRaye–both barely divorced–are indeed together now. When we asked the obligatory “WTF?! Why?” The answer is because Lisa knows she’s not getting onto any of these “society and political” events without a man who could bring her along. She’s also starved for attention from the media–surprise surprise–so Al is her “In” into that world. And Al–well he’s just happy to say he can have a chick that looks like LisaRaye on his arm and whose perm looks better than his.

We didn’t believe it at first, but at the Congressional Black Caucus events this weekend in DC–Mr. Sharpton was indeed coupled up with LisaRaye as he brought her as his date to every event. In the above pic, they were boo’d up at a Gala afterparty at Toscana West. And below, we spotted them at the Gala together with friends. I mean holding hands, boo’d up, everything. Shocker…we know. But you heard here FIRST….

THAT'S JUST NASTY!!!!!

Warren G: I Ain’t Against The Gays…But Let’s Keep It Behind The Scenes

West Coast rapper Warren G recently sat down with Vanity Fair for a little Q&A on music and money. After being questioned on the impact of hip-hop lyrics that glorify sex, money and overindulgence, Warren G threw the interviewer and anyone reading the interview for a loop when he suddenly declared “I ain’t against the gays,” further adding, “I’m just against it being promoted to kids.”

Suddenly, the interview went from an examination of the impact of bragging about stacks in a recession to Warren’s thoughts on gay images in the media. According to Warren, “I know it happens, but let’s keep it behind the scenes.”

Check out excerpts from the interview after the jump…

There seems to be two radically different factions in hip-hop regarding money management. On the one hand, you’ve got Lil’ Scrappy saying “Got a bank account (cha-ching) with a large amount/ If a nigga wanna talk, nigga we can let it bounce.” But then there’s P-Diddy bragging about poppin’ bottles of Cristal and decorating his pad with colossal Picasso’s. What’s your stance? Do you believe in saving your money for a rainy day, or blowing it on champagne and Cubism?

I think you should save the money for your kids and grandkids and stuff like that. But it ain’t really a bad thing to party every now and again. If you’re makin’ a lot of money, there ain’t nothin’ wrong with partying and makin’ yourself feel good and enjoying what you worked hard for. I ain’t mad at those artists rappin’ about money. But I also think we gotta teach these kids that money ain’t what it’s all about. You gotta start being a businessman or a businesswoman. Instead of just poppin’ open bottles of Cristal, we should be teaching them about business and stuff like that. I don’t just mean in terms of the hip-hop community. I mean blacks, whites, Latinos, everybody. As a generation, we need to start leading these kids down the right path. I mean, I ain’t against the gays or nothin’.

Wait, what? You had me until the “I ain’t against the gays” part.

I ain’t against gay people. I’m just against it being promoted to kids.

I’m sorry, I don’t follow. What does the recession have to do with gay propaganda?

I know people that’s gay. My wife’s got friends that are gay. I got family that’s gay. Cousins and shit. He cool as fuck. He cool as a motherfucker. He’s my homie. I just mean that on some of these TV shows, they got dudes kissing. And kids are watching that shit. We can’t have kids growing up with that.

So you’ve got a “pot leads to heroin” theory about Hollywood homosexuality? Today there are men kissing on network TV, and tomorrow Grey’s Anatomy is all about mouth rape?

I know it happens, but let’s keep it behind the scenes. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with it if that’s what two dudes wanna do. Cool. But that’s not bring that out into the world, where the kids can see that. We don’t want all the kids doing that. ‘Cause that ain’t how we was originally put here to do. Like I said, I ain’t got no problem with the gays.
