AJ Jewell, former fiance of The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burruss, has died due to severe head injuries he suffered following a fight at Atlanta strip club, Body Tap.
“It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and he received a severe blow to the head,” said Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
Kandi, the legal guardian of AJ’s twin 12 year-old daughters, was “stunned and speechless” by the news, said Burruss’ publicist, Lisa Nelson. On Twitter, Kandi addressed the situation in a few tweets by saying,
“im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone”
“I could never n a million years imagine this happening. please pray for AJ’s children. that’s who im the most concerned 4.”
“im bout 2 giv my swollen eyes sum rest now. i just wanted to say thanks 2 every1 for their prayers. i gotta get up & go 2 my uncle’s funeral”
AJ leaves behind six children.
According to Lt. Meadows, “We have developed a person of interest and we’ve made contact with him to question him about the incident.” No arrests have been made as of yet.
Police have arrested Frederick Richardson for the death of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell. Richardson was involved in an altercation with AJ in the parking lot of Body Tap strip club, where Richardson was an employee. AJ was taken to Piedmont Hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of severe head injuries. Richardson was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained from the altercation. Once doctors give the okay, Richardson will be discharged into the custody of police and head to jail. Richardson has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
